The three people building this from the ground up.
The Tipping Point Has Arrived
Adopt Now.
Or Explain Why You Didn't.
We are beyond the inflection point. AI is no longer a future risk to manage, it is a present force that is restructuring every industry, every role, and every competitive advantage your organization has spent decades building. The question is not if this affects you. It already has.
The sharpest AI entrepreneurs, engineers, and practitioners in the region are building here, right now. Talk to them. Ask them how your industry is about to change. Then decide if you can afford to watch from the outside.
For enterprise leaders
You Can't Stand on the Sideline Anymore
The AI singularity isn't a thought experiment, it's the operating reality of 2026. Autonomous agents are replacing workflows. MCP is rewriting system architecture. The tools your competitors shipped with last quarter didn't exist six months ago. If your strategy is still built on last year's assumptions, you're not just behind, you're in the wrong game entirely.
The enterprises that thrive in the next decade won't be the ones who studied the transformation. They'll be the ones who were inside it, accelerating it.
The shibboleth test
Are You Even in the Loop?
These aren't hypothetical questions. If your leadership team can't answer them, the tipping point has already passed you by.
- Velocity
Can you trace the 48-hour evolution from Clawdbot to Moltbot to OpenClaw?
The AI stack is rewriting itself weekly. Your quarterly briefing is already three generations behind.
- Architecture
Have you seen a live MCP bridge connect a legacy Data Warehouse to an autonomous agent?
This isn't theoretical. It's happening in Gothenburg right now, in real workspaces, on real products.
- Execution
Is your team still manually pushing pixels in Figma, or have they seen AI-agents handle the creative heavy lifting in real-time?
The tools your competitors are shipping with today didn't exist six months ago.
The gap between a legacy organization and an AI-accelerated enterprise is not technology, it's proximity to the people building it. Get in the room. Ask the hard questions. Move before the next shift lands.

Why Gothenburg
Gothenburg has every ingredient to become a leading AI city: engineering depth, industrial scale, and research excellence. The one thing it lacks is a central platform where founders, investors, and institutions meet to build new AI companies. That's what AI Gothenburg is designed to be.
World-class engineering talent
Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg produce thousands of engineers, data scientists, and AI researchers every year, a deep, renewable talent pool that few European cities can match.
Global industrial companies
Volvo, Ericsson, AstraZeneca, SKF, and Stena have their roots here. Their R&D labs generate domain expertise, corporate spinouts, and enterprise customers that AI startups need to scale.
A growing startup culture
Gothenburg's tech scene is maturing fast, repeat founders, active angel networks, and early-stage VCs are creating momentum. What's missing is a dedicated space where all of this converges.
AI Gothenburg connects these strengths into a single ecosystem, turning isolated talent, capital, and industry into a compounding engine for new ventures.

The Founder Pipeline
Where the 200+ companies come from
Gothenburg already has the raw ingredients: world-class universities, deep-tech multinationals, and a growing wave of repeat founders. The hub's role is to connect these sources into a structured pipeline that turns talent into funded, scaling AI companies.
Early AI builders
The next Lovable, Legora or Recorded Future is already being built: by individuals scattered across the city in home offices, shared desks, and suboptimal environments. They need a home.
Chalmers University of Technology
Sweden's top engineering university, producing hundreds of ML and computer science graduates every year
University of Gothenburg
Strong programs in data science, applied AI, and digital humanities feeding early-stage ventures
Corporate spinouts
Engineers from Volvo, Ericsson, AstraZeneca, Stena, and other Gothenburg multinationals moving into AI
Repeat founders
Serial entrepreneurs from the Nordic tech scene launching their next company in AI
International talent
AI researchers and founders relocating to Sweden, drawn by quality of life, EU market access, and R&D incentives
The core thesis
"One single company can transform a region, several can transform the entire economy."
Every krona invested in AI Gothenburg is a bet on Gothenburg's economic resilience. AI companies generate outsized tax revenue, high-value jobs, and compounding innovation spillovers that no single corporate R&D budget can replicate.

How it works for founders
AI Gothenburg operates a two-track model. Both tracks are by application only. Track A has subsidized workspace. Here's exactly what that means.
Building from zero
For founders at pre-revenue stage who need a builder environment, community, and mentors.
Workspace terms
- Subsidized workspace: free for 0–12 months
- Requires active building: regular check-ins and progress updates to community and mentors
- After 12 months: transition to market-rate rent or Track B status
- Track A spots are limited: a waitlist applies if the hub is at capacity
The subsidy is made possible by partner contributions. Track A is a workspace membership with a commitment: build actively within the community.
Already working
For established AI companies that want the right environment, community, and network, and that contribute to the hub's economy from day one.
What you get
- Dedicated desk or office space at market rate
- Part of the core builder community
- Introductions to angel network and investors
- Co-hosting rights for events and workshops
- Strategic visibility within the ecosystem
Track B companies play a key role in shaping the hub culture and creating mentorship opportunities for Track A founders.

- 1
Application
Submit your application at aigothenburg.com/apply. We review all applications and respond within two weeks. 60+ companies have already applied.
- 2
Short interview
A 30-minute conversation with the hub team. We focus on your AI approach, founding team, and why Gothenburg makes sense for you.
- 3
Practical session
Rather than relying only on interviews, we invite promising teams into shared formats: sessions, workshops, or hackathon-style activities. This gives us a real picture of how you think and build.
- 4
Decision
We make a decision based on team clarity, AI at the core of the product or method, and overall fit. Track A spots are limited and granted based on capacity and cohort composition.
What we look for
AI at the core: the product or method is fundamentally AI-driven
Founding team clarity: clear roles, commitment, and complementary skills
Motivation for Gothenburg: genuine connection or reason to build here
Active builder mindset: you're shipping, testing, and learning fast
Admission is handled independently by the hub team based on published criteria. No partner, financier, or investor may influence individual admission decisions.
Strategic partners
AI Gothenburg collaborates with a limited number of strategic partners who contribute through technology, expertise, infrastructure or ecosystem support.
Strategic partners are selected based on their role in strengthening the hub and the regional AI ecosystem and are not defined primarily by financial contribution.
Strategic partnerships are established through invitation and operate within the neutral, founder-first structure of the association. Strategic partnerships are separate from the financial partner tiers described above.

Structure and governance
How partnership works
AI Gothenburg is designed as neutral ecosystem infrastructure.
The hub operates founder-first and independent from any single partner. The association structure ensures that governance follows the statutes and that the hub remains open, transparent and long-term sustainable.
Membership in the association and partner participation are separate, but many partners also choose to become members.
How partner contributions are used
Partner contributions support the shared infrastructure of the hub, including:
- Workspace and facilities
- The founder environment
- Events and ecosystem activities
- Collaboration with industry, academia and public actors
- International partnerships
- Development of the regional AI ecosystem
Partners get a clear return: proximity to the region's most active AI founders, structured access to the founder pipeline, and first-mover visibility into deal flow.
The association structure ensures neutrality, no single partner can steer admission decisions or shape the builder community in their own interest.
The goal is to build long-term capacity for AI entrepreneurship in Gothenburg, and partners are the ones who make that possible.
