Today, AI Gothenburg is being announced more publicly.

The initiative is launched together with partners across industry, public sector and the technology ecosystem, as part of a broader effort to strengthen Gothenburg's ability to create new AI companies.

A founder-first AI venture hub

AI Gothenburg is a founder-first AI venture hub created to increase the speed at which new companies can be built in Gothenburg.

The purpose is simple:

To create the conditions where more AI companies can go from idea to product, pilot and market — faster and with better support than what is normally possible.

AI Gothenburg is organized as a non-profit initiative, built as neutral ecosystem infrastructure for the region.

The goal is not to operate as a commercial accelerator, but to strengthen the long-term ability to create new companies together with partners from industry, academia, public sector and the technology ecosystem.

The hub is not a coworking space, not a consulting initiative, and not a traditional incubator.

It is designed to complement existing actors, with a clear focus on early-stage company creation and execution.

Behind the initiative

AI Gothenburg is initiated and driven by entrepreneurs and builders based in Gothenburg.

The initiative brings together people with experience from startups, investment and ecosystem development, working to create better conditions for building AI companies in the region.

Why this is needed now

AI development is accelerating globally.

At the same time, regions are moving quickly to build environments where new companies can emerge, scale and attract talent and capital.

There is a window of opportunity — but it will not stay open indefinitely.

Gothenburg has strong conditions:

• World-leading industry
• Deep technical competence
• Active public and research actors
• Experienced entrepreneurs and investors

But strong conditions alone are not enough.

Without focused environments for company creation, there is a real risk that talent, ideas and future companies are built elsewhere.

AI Gothenburg is created to strengthen those conditions — with the long-term ambition to make Gothenburg one of the best places in the world to build AI companies.

Built step by step

AI Gothenburg is currently being established.

Partnerships are being formed, the organization is taking shape, and the work on a long-term physical hub is ongoing.

During this phase, activity has already started from temporary premises in Gothenburg, allowing founders, partners and collaborators to begin working together while the permanent setup is developed.

Building the hub step by step is intentional.

The focus is on creating real activity early, while the long-term structure is put in place.
