Vinge takes the legal seat at AI Gothenburg

Vinge joins AI Gothenburg as the hub's legal partner, giving member companies a law firm in the building for the questions that get expensive if you get them wrong.

The legal questions in an AI company arrive early and most of them are signed once. Who owns what between the founders. How the options work before the first hire. What you can train on and who owns what comes out. What the term sheet actually says. Getting these right at the start is cheap. Fixing them later, with an investor looking over your shoulder, is not.

Vinge is now the legal partner at AI Gothenburg. It is the first seat in a stack we are building deliberately, one partner per discipline, so that companies here do not have to shop around for people they can trust. For the legal side of building a company, that partner is Vinge.

What makes it work is proximity. Vinge's team is in the hub regularly, they run sessions during the term on the topics that keep coming up, and every member company gets an initial legal check-in to see where it stands. From there, members work with Vinge on member terms, starting light and going deeper when a round, a hire or an IP question calls for it.

They kicked it off on Friday, with the team on stage at the hub and a talk on what to get right before you take in investors.

"The companies here move fast, and the legal side should keep up rather than slow them down. Having Vinge in the building means a founder can ask the question the week it comes up, to people who have seen it before," says Michael Yngfors, co-founder of AI Gothenburg.

"We want to get to know these companies early, before the questions become urgent. Being in the hub lets us do that, and it lets the founders put a face on the firm," says Carl Lönnqvist, Counsel at Vinge.

Vinge is the first of several partners we are bringing into the hub this autumn.
